The Government has a unique responsibility for the health of the people, which can be fulfilled only by the provision of adequately equipped health centres with credible equipment. These health centres form an integral part of community development, they are the first level of contact with individuals, family and community. Health centres bring health care as close as possible to where people live and work, and constitute the first element of a continuing health care process. While there are programmes in place to upgrade these facilities, the government is keenly aware that there are challenges, not all resources are available to provide the level of upkeep necessary. It is therefore in this regard that the government seeks the partnership of the diaspora to aid in maintenance and upkeep through the Adopt-A-Clinic Programme.
